About the Power Academy

The Power Academy was founded to be a friendly cultural experience for families to enjoy. Students of the Power Academy range in age from 3 to adult, and have performed in Ireland, at Festivals, at the 2002 Olympics, and with artists such as the Trinity Irish Dancers, Riverdance Fiddler Eileen Ivers and renowned Irish Band, The Celts.  The Power Academy of Irish Dance was founded in 2006 by Lisa Power Steinmetz, T.C.R.G.

The Power Academy is certified by the An Coimision le Rinca Gaelacha in Ireland, and follows the standards of excellence outlined by that organization.  The Power Academy teaches a curriculum of Traditional Irish Step Dance, including solo softshoe and hardshoe, and Ceili, or group dancing.  From there we build on this traditional foundation to create contemporary Irish Dance pieces in the style of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

Competitive Irish Step Dancing thrives in California and the Power Academy enjoys competing locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Please feel free to contact us about shows or performance opportunities!
